GA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS ORIENTATION FOR NEWLY POSTED NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL

The Ga West Municipal Assembly has organised an orientation programme for newly posted National Service Personnel (NSPs) at the Ga West Assembly Hall on Friday, 30th January 2026, to officially welcome them and acquaint them with the Assembly’s operations.

The programme brought together key officials of the Assembly and National Service Personnel deployed to various departments within the Municipality.

The orientation began with a brief introduction by Justice Kojo Antwi ESQ, the Human Resource Officer, who explained the purpose of the meeting and warmly welcomed the service personnel. He also introduced the dignitaries present, including the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs. Louisa Benon; the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai; the Presiding Member, Hon. Mawuli Amuzu; and the National Service Authority (NSA) Municipal Manager for the Ga West Municipal, Madam Juliet Mireku Addae Boateng

Delivering an insightful address, the Presiding Member, Hon. Mawuli Amuzu, highlighted the importance of the National Service Scheme, describing it as a vital national programme designed to prepare graduates for the world of work and contribute to national development. He encouraged the personnel to take their service year seriously, noting that it plays a significant role in shaping their professional and personal lives.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs. Louisa Benon, provided a summary of the orientation and outlined the Assembly’s expectations. She urged the personnel to be disciplined, committed, and respectful in their respective departments.

In a motivational speech, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai, who also serves as the Dean of the 29 Assemblies in Greater Accra, spoke on self-development and self-confidence. He emphasised that the posting of service personnel was intentional and encouraged them to embrace every task assigned to them. He further advised them to be punctual at work and to respect supervisors, staff, and colleagues.

The NSS Manager, Madam Julian Kwanteng, reiterated that participation in the National Service Scheme is mandatory and warned that failure to comply with its requirements attracts severe consequences. She explained that evaluation forms must be duly completed by supervisors and submitted to the district office as required.

The programme concluded with a brief presentation by Justice Kojo Antwi ESQ, who provided an overview of the Ga West Municipal Assembly. He explained that the Assembly operates through various zonal councils and stressed the importance of appropriate dressing and workplace effectiveness, urging personnel to always conduct themselves professionally.

The orientation marked the beginning of the service year for the newly posted personnel and set the tone for discipline, professionalism, and dedication throughout their service period.
