GA WEST MCE INSPECTS REFURBISHED FIRE TENDER TO BOOST EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

12.Feb.2026

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West Municipality, Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai, together with the Municipal Coordinating Director and senior officials of the Assembly, has conducted a technical inspection of a refurbished fire tender at the Ga West Fire Service Command.

The inspection was undertaken to assess the vehicle’s readiness for operational deployment as part of efforts to strengthen fire response capacity and improve emergency preparedness within the municipality.

During the exercise, the team examined key components of the fire tender, including water pumps, hose fittings, communication equipment, and vehicle mobility. The MCE also test-drove the vehicle to evaluate its performance.

While acknowledging the improvement made through the refurbishment, Hon. Sowah Nai expressed concern about the vehicle’s adequacy for emergency situations. He emphasized the need for improved response times and more reliable equipment to effectively protect lives and property in the municipality.

The inspection also coincided with a visit to the mechanised borehole project at the Ga West Fire Service Station, which is making steady progress. The project will be completed with the installation of pumps and water storage infrastructure to ensure an uninterrupted water supply for fire-fighting operations.

The MCE noted existing challenges, including limited resources and service conditions, but commended officers and staff for their dedication and ability to deliver results despite these constraints. He expressed appreciation to the fire Service staff for their continued support and commitment to duty.

Hon. Sowah Nai encouraged continued patriotism, readiness, and teamwork in delivering essential services and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening emergency response systems across the municipality.
