GA WEST HOLDS ORIENTATION FOR ITS NEWLY RECRUITED TASKFORCE

The Ga West Municipal Assembly has organized an orientation programme for its newly recruited Works and Sanitation Taskforce at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The event which was held on Friday, 3rd October brought together several distinguished personalities, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), the Member of Parliament for Amasaman, the Presiding Member, the Divisional and District Police Commanders, as well as Heads of Departments.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Municipal Coordinating Director, who formally opened the session and outlined its purpose. He emphasized the importance of the orientation in ensuring that the recruits clearly understand their roles and responsibilities as staff of the Assembly.

Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai, the Municipal Chief Executive outlined discipline, commitment, and integrity as the core values the recruits must uphold in the discharge of their duties. He reminded them of how their conduct directly reflects the image of the Assembly. The MCE urged the recruits to support the Assembly’s efforts in enhancing its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and announced the procurement of three new Nissan pickup vehicles to facilitate their operations.

The Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Hon. Sedem Afenyo, encouraged the recruits to work collaboratively to ensure the effective implementation of President John Mahama’s “Resetting Agenda”. He also called for unity, discipline, and harmony among the officers, urging them to refrain from actions that could undermine the integrity of the Assembly.

The Presiding Member expressed his willingness to work closely with the new task force and advised them to collaborate effectively with Assembly Members to ensure smooth operations. He urged them to maintain open communication and to promptly report any challenges encountered to him, particularly in instances where an Assembly Member may impede their work.

Addressing the recruits, the Divisional Police Commander outlined the dos and don’ts of field operations. He advised them to exhibit professionalism, respect, and responsibility to earn the trust and confidence of the communities they will serve.

The Works Engineer provided practical guidance on the specific duties and performance expectations of the task force, emphasizing diligence, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. The Human Resource Department concluded the session with a presentation on work ethics, the Assembly’s organizational structure, and general administrative rules and regulations intended to guide the recruits in the performance of their duties.

The programme concluded successfully, leaving the recruits better informed, motivated, and prepared to contribute effectively to the growth and development of the Ga West Municipality.
