The Ga West Municipal Assembly has held a confirmation ceremony for the Government nominee, Hon.John Desmond Sowah Nai as the Municipal Chief Executive at the Assembly Hall on Wednesday 7th May 2025.
The occasion was graced by Esteemed Guest such as the Assistant Commissioner Of The Ghana Immigration Service, Ga West, The District Police Commander, Nii Dr. Amasah Osaku II, Formal Presiding Members of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, President Of Ga West House of Chiefs, Vice Chairman of NDC for Amasaman Constituency, Ga West Chief Imam, Ga West Electoral commissioner, President of NALAK, Coordinating Directors, Chief Director from RCC, Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Regional Minister who also doubles as Member Of Parliament for Shai Osudoku, Deputy minister for Greater Accra and various departmental heads of the Assembly.
Hon. Sedem Afenyo, Member of Parliament of Amasaman Constituency in his opening remarks expressed his gratitude to all present at the ceremony and also employed the Hon. Assembly Members to make the confirmation of the MCE nominee possible.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Shai Osudoku has asked the Assembly members to make both Herself and the President proud by confirming the MCE so he could assume office immediately.
The moment of truth arrived when the Electoral Commissioner revealed the Government Nominee, Mr. John Desmond Sowah and stated the rules of the election. After a round of elections, the house recorded 25 ‘yes’ which was a 100% vote cast, confirming the nominee. The newly Elected Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. John Desmond Sowah was sworn in by the Regional Minister Hon.Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo.
Hon. John Desmond Sowah acknowledged all present and shared his gratitude for the support from both party and non-party members. He also expressed his thanks to God as well as the Member of Parliament for Amasaman Hon. Sedem Afenyo.
He promised that in collaboration with member of parliament, they will ensure to take advantage of the president’s manifesto especially for the youth on adwuma wura, one million coders and poultry in agriculture. Also, he stated that he will improve the states of the schools and hospital in the municipality and also construct more roads to remake the municipal stand tall among all the municipalities. He finally urged the Assembly to uphold the principles of The President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and help fulfil his Manifesto.
