The Ga West Municipal Assembly on Thursday, 30^th July 2026, convened its Executive Committee (EXECO) Meeting at the Ga West Municipal Assembly Hall to deliberate on key policy and development issues aimed at strengthening local governance and accelerating the municipality’s socio-economic development.

The meeting was chaired by Honourable Atsu and present were  the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs Louisa Benon, members of the Executive Committee, Departmental heads, Unit heads and other stakeholders.

Proceedings began with the correction and adoption of the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by discussions on matters arising. Members reviewed the implementation status of previous decisions and received updates on ongoing programmes and interventions across the municipality.

 The Municipal Planning Officer, Madam Cynthia Bonsah presented the Drafted Revised 2026 Annual Action Plan. During her presentation, she outlined the Assembly’s revised programmes, projects, and activities for the 2026 planning period, noting that they were aligned with the Municipality’s Medium-Term Development Plan and national development priorities. She underscored the need for effective coordination and collaboration among departments to ensure the successful implementation of the planned interventions. Members thoroughly examined the document, offered constructive suggestions, and made recommendations to enhance its implementation.

The Committee also considered the Drafted Revised 2026 Composite Budget, presented by the Municipal Budget Officer, Madam Mary A. A. Acquah. She provided a comprehensive overview of the Assembly’s projected revenue and expenditure, highlighting budget allocations for key sectors and development programmes. She further emphasized the importance of prudent financial management, efficient utilization of available resources, and improving Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to support the Assembly’s development agenda.

 Reports from the various Sub-Committees were presented for discussion. The reports outlined ongoing activities, key achievements, challenges, and recommendations within their respective sectors, providing members with valuable insights to support informed decision-making.

The Executive Committee also deliberated on proposals submitted by traditional authorities and other stakeholders, as well as matters relating to infrastructure development within the municipality. Members discussed the proposed redevelopment of the Social Welfare building and were informed that technical assessments had been completed. The project is expected to strengthen the existing structure and provide additional space, subject to the necessary approvals.

Members raised concerns on issues affecting the municipality and proposed practical measures to improve service delivery and enhance the implementation of Assembly programmes and projects.

The Executive Committee commended the Planning and Budget Units for their comprehensive presentations and expressed appreciation to all members for their active participation and valuable contributions throughout the meeting. The Committee reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaborative decision-making in promoting sustainable development within the Ga West Municipality.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chairperson, presenters, and members of the Executive Committee for their continued dedication and commitment to the growth and development of the municipality.
