The Ga West Municipal Assembly has commissioned and handed over several completed development projects across the municipality as part of efforts to improve social infrastructure and enhance access to essential public services.

The commissioning and handing-over ceremonies were held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the respective project sites. The exercise formed part of the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to provide critical infrastructure and respond to the development needs of communities across the municipality.

Among the projects commissioned were a six-unit classroom block and a teachers’ bungalow at Manhean, a three-unit classroom block at Afoaman, and a two-storey six-unit classroom block at Adjen Kotoku. Other projects included a classroom block at Kpobikopé and mechanised boreholes to improve access to potable water for residents.

The ceremonies commenced at the Manhean M/A Basic School, where the Assembly Member for Manhean, Hon. Daniel Aryee Aryeetey, delivered the welcome address.

He said the six-unit classroom block formed part of the Assembly’s interventions to address overcrowding and the lack of teachers’ accommodation at the school. He expressed appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive, the Assembly and the Member of Parliament for the Amasaman Constituency for their support.

Hon. Aryee Aryeetey urged teachers, pupils and the community to ensure the proper maintenance of the facilities to prolong their lifespan.

The Member of Parliament for the Amasaman Constituency, Hon. Sedem Kweku Afenyo, in his remarks, commended the Assembly and the contractor for completing the projects within the stipulated timeframe. He urged school authorities, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and community members to take responsibility for the proper maintenance of the facilities.

He also pledged to provide additional furniture for the school.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. John Desmod Sowah Nai, said the projects formed part of the Government’s Reset Agenda and urged beneficiary communities to make good use of the facilities and ensure their proper maintenance. He also encouraged the pupils to take their academic work seriously.

In a special gesture, the pupils of the Manhean M/A Basic School presented a citation to Hon. Sedem Kweku Afenyo in recognition of his contribution towards ending the shift system at the school. In response, the MP dedicated the citation to the Headteacher and the PTA for their efforts and collaboration.

The team subsequently proceeded to Afoaman, where a three-unit classroom block, described as a legacy project, was commissioned and handed over to the community. The team then moved to Adjen Kotoku, where a two-storey six-unit classroom block was also commissioned and handed over for use.

The ceremonies brought together the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. John Desmod Sowah Nai; the Member of Parliament for the Amasaman Constituency, Hon. Sedem Kweku Afenyo; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mrs. Louisa Benon; the Presiding Member, Hon. Emmanuel Mawuli Amuzu; the Municipal Education Director, Mr. Victor Noye Tawiah; officials of the Ga West Municipal Assembly; Assembly Members; traditional leaders; community members; education stakeholders; and other relevant partners.

The projects form part of the Assembly’s development interventions aimed at addressing infrastructure deficits in communities and creating an enabling environment for quality education and the delivery of essential public services.
