GA WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS A RISK MANAGEMENT TRAINING

The Ga West Municipal Assembly has held a risk management training programme aimed at strengthening the Assembly’s capacity to identify, assess and manage potential risks in its operations on Friday 7^th August 2026 at the Municipal Assembly Hall.

The training which was facilitated by Mr. Quatada N. Mohammed of Robbel Consult brought together all Heads of Departments within the Assembly. The exercise focused on preparing and equipping the Municipal Risk Management Team with the knowledge and skills required to develop a comprehensive Risk Management Policy, Risk Register and Risk Management Charter for the Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai, who was present at the training, underscored the importance of effective risk management in strengthening the Assembly’s operations and ensuring efficient service delivery.

He commended Robbel Consult for the initiative and encouraged participants to pay close attention to the training and actively engage in the session to gain the necessary knowledge and practical skills.

Facilitating the training, Mr. Quatada N. Mohammed highlighted the importance of risk management across various sectors, noting that effective risk management enables organisations to anticipate potential challenges and take appropriate measures before they escalate.

He emphasised that strong leadership, accountability and effective internal controls are essential to managing risks and ensuring the successful achievement of organisational objectives. He also stressed the importance of regular audits and monitoring mechanisms to promote compliance, minimise errors and prevent avoidable losses.

Mr Quatada further called for the establishment of a well-organised and comprehensive risk management system to guide the Assembly’s operations and support informed decision-making.

The training provided participants with practical knowledge and tools for identifying potential risks, assessing their impact and applying appropriate measures to mitigate them within their respective departments.

The exercise is expected to contribute to the development of a robust risk management framework for the Ga West Municipal Assembly, ultimately strengthening institutional accountability, operational efficiency and sustainable service delivery.
