The Ga West Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai in collaboration with the Member of Parliament has donated assorted food items and an undisclosed amount of cash to chiefs and traditional authorities within the municipality in preparation for the 2026 Homowo Festival of the Amasaman traditional area which starts on Monday, 3^rd August 2026. The donation was made at the ga west municipal assembly premises.

The donation was made by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Desmond Sowah Nai, together with the MP for Amasaman constituency Hon. Sedem Afenyo and some Assembly Members as part of the Assembly's annual support to traditional authorities during the traditional festival.

Items presented included 100 gallons of palm oil, 100 bags of maize, 100 packs of bottled water, and an undisclosed amount of money.

Addressing the chiefs and traditional leaders during the presentation, Hon. Desmond Sowah Nai emphasised the important role traditional authorities play in promoting peace, unity, and development within the municipality. He noted that the Homowo Festival is a significant cultural celebration that symbolizes thanksgiving and remembrance, adding that the Assembly was proud to support the custodians of the municipality's rich cultural heritage.

"As an Assembly, we are proud to stand with our chiefs who are the custodians of our culture. This donation is a sign of our support and appreciation," he stated.

Hon. Sedem Afenyo, in his remarks, reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to strengthening its partnership with traditional authorities to promote sustainable development across the municipality. He highlighted key sectors such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, and sanitation as priority areas where collaboration with traditional leaders remains essential.

Receiving the items on behalf of the chiefs and traditional authorities, the President of the Ga West Council of Chiefs expressed profound appreciation to Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai, Hon. Sedem Afenyo, and the Ga West Municipal Assembly for their continuous support and commitment to the welfare of the traditional councils.

He offered prayers for God's blessings upon the Assembly's leadership and its staff, while encouraging residents of the municipality to celebrate the Homowo Festival in peace, unity, and harmony.

The presentation forms part of the Ga West Municipal Assembly's annual tradition of supporting chiefs and traditional authorities during major festivals, underscoring the Assembly's commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering stronger collaboration with traditional institutions for the overall development of the municipality.
