yesterday

Amasaman, Greater Accra — June 24, 2026 — The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, Hon. John Desmond Nii Sowah has reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening revenue mobilization by equipping taskforce members with the resources, motivation, and professional guidance needed to enhance their performance.

Speaking at a refresher orientation programme for the revenue taskforce at the Assembly Hall in Amasaman, the MCE encouraged members to uphold professionalism, integrity, and dedication in the discharge of their duties. He emphasized the importance of educating the public while carrying out revenue mobilisation activities and urged members to maintain a positive image of the Assembly in their interactions with residents.

As part of efforts to improve operational efficiency, the MCE announced the procurement of new pickups for the revenue and sanitation taskforces. He also tasked officers from the Physical Planning Department (PPD) and the Works Department to support revenue collection efforts by following up on clients to ensure compliance with Assembly regulations.

To reward hard work and excellence, the MCE unveiled an attractive performance-based incentive package. Under the arrangement, taskforce members will receive 20 percent of revenue targets achieved as bonuses, while a salary enhancement has been assured for teams that meet or exceed their targets by the end of the year. He further disclosed that the Assembly has introduced a friendly competition among taskforce groups, with the best-performing team set to receive motorbikes for all its members as a reward for outstanding performance.

The Assembly has also procured new uniforms bearing the names of taskforce members to promote professionalism, visibility, and accountability. To support smooth operations, the MCE directed the Municipal Finance Officer to ensure the regular fueling of taskforce vehicles.

Providing an update on performance, the MCE noted that Group 1 currently leads with over GHS 360,000 mobilised, followed by Group 2 with GHS 165,000. Other groups continue to make steady progress toward the overall target of GHS 500,000 per group, demonstrating the Assembly’s growing commitment to improving Internally Generated Funds (IGF).

The Divisional Police Commander of Ga West addressed members on professional conduct and legal responsibilities, stressing the importance of working within the law and collaborating with the Police when necessary. He encouraged taskforce members to remain respectful, exercise sound judgment, and contribute positively to the Assembly’s image within the municipality.

The Head of Security, Municipal Works Engineer, and Head of Physical Planning also took turns to guide members on best practices, teamwork, and compliance with established procedures. They encouraged the taskforce to work closely with technical officers and remain focused on achieving their revenue mobilisation goals.

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer expressed appreciation to the MCE for the logistical support provided to the sanitation taskforce and assured management of the department’s commitment to achieving its targets.

The orientation programme ended on a hopeful and inspiring note with a closing prayer led by the Deputy Director, Mr. Julius Azuma, who called for unity, dedication, and success in the Assembly’s revenue mobilisation efforts.
