Zonal Council

As enshrined in the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, the Local Government Act 2016, Act 936, which establishes the Urban, Zonal and Town Councils and the Unit Committees of which the Kotoku Zonal Council is not exceptional.

Our Core Mandate is to perform the functions set out in the schedule of the L.I such as promoting grass root participation, assisting in data collection, Revenue mobilization, promoting effective and efficient sanitary environment as well as educating the citizenry on behalf the Assembly and the government’s programs and policies.

The Zonal Council is made of three (3) electoral areas being Medie, Akotoshie and Kotoku respectively, it can boast of 27 communities with majority being smaller villages but development is fast growing around them with the indigenes being Ga’s. Currently, almost every tribe in Ghana is represented in the Zone including foreigners due to spreading up of entities.

AKOTOSHIE: Akotoshie No. 1, Akotoshie No. 2, Ewukopey, Egakopey, Ahiabukopey, Abaman, Victor-Kopey, Papase, Papase Railways, Gidikopey, Sabaman, Kokoman, Agorteykopey.

KOTOKU: Nii Tsruman, Kwateiman, Railways, Zongo, Attorkukopey, Majority of the residents are self-employed with different ethnic groups.
