Meaalofa Foundaton (gGmbH) Donates 202 Computers and Accessories to Schools in Ghana

The Meaalofa Foundation in partnership with Mr. Richard Oppong has held the Greater Accra phase 2 of the Computer Donations 2024 at the Ga West Municipal Assembly Hall. Meaalofa Foundation is a non-profit organization in Germany that initiates and supports projects Worldwide on the topics of education, migration and environmental protection. The Meaalofa Foundation was founded by Andreas Muller-Herman in Munich in April 2021 and funded by Andreas, Martina, Kathrin, Mattias and Richard.

The ceremony which took place on Wednesday 16th October 2024 at the Ga West Municipal Assembly Hall, Amasaman was chaired by the M.C.E. Hon. Clement Wilkinson. In the welcome address, Mr. Samuel Thompson expressed gratitude to participating schools, institutional heads and dignitaries present. He further stated that because the excellence in Information Communication Technology of Students and Pupils present at the event is the priority of Meaalofa Foundation, they are supporting schools with ICT materials therefore the computers available at the event will be given to the various schools and institutions invited to the ceremony.

The Ga West Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Clement Wilkinson in the key note address reiterated the fact that ICT is currently the most effective tool in wealth creation globally. He therefore urged students to learn ICT well.

Mr. Richard Oppong, the Country Director of the Meealofa Foundation said that the Foundation aims to make it easy for our schools to catch up with technology hence this is the 5th phase of their computer donations. He assured donors that every piece of computer and accessory they have donated will get to the right people. He disclosed that the Phase 1 of the donation was done in Kumasi on 7th March 2023 where 89 computers, laptops, tablets and some projectors were sent in by Meaalofa. The second phase arrived on 6th February 2024 with 105 computers, 10 printers and 3 projectors and was done in the Greater Accra Region. The 3rd phase, 65 computers and 3 printers were donated in Kumasi. In phase 4, 185 computers and 4 projectors benefited some schools in Kumasi. He stressed that this is just the beginning and that there will be more donations but Students should make good use of the computers and accessories. He then made a passionate appeal to the Teachers and school administrators present not to use the computers for their personal gains but use them for their intended purpose of training students in ICT. He ended his speech by showing appreciation to all stakeholders present at the ceremony.

Beneficiaries include Amasaman Cluster of Schools, Busy Kids Academy-Aframan, Reigners Montessori School-Sonitra, Central Gospel School-Amasaman, Aworoeso Basic School- Nsawam, Enyiresi Government Hospital- Anyinam, Community Children’s Library, Acccra, Guarko Ef… Senior High School- Bono East, Accra New Town Experimental 1 Junior High School- Accra, Akatsi College Practice Cluster of Schools, Calvary Baptist Church Josua Caleb Temple Child Community  Library- Kotoku, St Patrick Anglcan Basic B Primary and JHS, South La Estate “2” Junior High School-Accra, Crystal Gate International School- Madina, Special Schools-Eastern Region and Seven Showers of Blessings International School- Akatamanso.  

Present at the event were Nana Adwoa Afari II, Ofuman Hemaa, Daasebre Ofori Gyan the Adehye Hene of Ofuman in the Bono East Region. Honorable Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, the Ga West Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Victor Noye Tawiah, Ga West Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Richard Oppong, Country Director of the Meaalofa Foundation.

The Ceremony was well-organized with experienced presenters and enjoyable performances by students of Crystal Gate International School. Recipients delivered gratitude messages to Meaalofa Foundation with assurance to put to good use of the ICT materials donated to them.
