PRESIDENT MAHAMA COMMENDS PROGRESS ON OFANKOR –NSAWAM ROAD, URGES FASTER COMPLETION

04.Dec.2025

President John Dramani Mahama has expressed strong satisfaction with ongoing construction works on the Ofankor–Nsawam Road and has called on contractors to intensify efforts to complete the project ahead of schedule.

The President made the remarks during a site inspection on Wednesday, December 3—exactly 90 days after his last visit. Reflecting on the situation during his earlier inspection, he noted that the project had suffered significant setbacks.

“When we first came here, the road was progressing at a snail’s pace. A major challenge was the long delay in payments for work already done, so I directed the Roads and Finance Ministers to ensure the contractor was paid. Over $70 million has since been disbursed,” he said.

President Mahama added that despite earlier projections that the road would be completed by July next year, the rapid progress now indicates the possibility of finishing as early as April.

“I am quite impressed with the progress. I will urge the contractor to keep pushing. If the pace continues, the road can be completed and handed over for public use ahead of schedule,” he remarked.

The Ofankor–Nsawam Road project, which commenced in July 2022, has experienced several delays due to funding constraints, resulting in prolonged traffic congestion and frustration among commuters.

The President’s visit reaffirms his administration’s commitment to resolving infrastructure challenges and ensuring that critical national projects are delivered on time.
