Following the successful completion of the District Level Elections held in December 2023 the inauguration of the new Hon. Assembly Members of the Ga West Municipal Assembly took place on Monday 12^th February,2024 .

The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Clement Wilkinson in his welcome address acknowledged all dignitaries present and congratulated the Assembly and Unit Committees members on their election to represent their various electoral areas in the Ga West Municipality.

The representative to the President  Dr John Ampotuah Kumah, Deputy Minister for Finance,  emphasized on the importance of the Assembly and its responsibilities in the local governance structure since it forms part of the initial point of call  for the community to express their grievances and needs

Twenty five Assembly members made up of seventeen elected members and eight Government Appointees and eighty-five Unit Committee members were sworn into office into the 9^th General  Assembly of Ga West Municipal Assembly by Her Ladyship Justice Priscilla Dapaah a High Court Judge from the Amasan High Court. She led the members to take the Oath of Allegiance, Oath of Secrecy and the Official Oath,

The Assembly members proceeded to elect the Presiding member in accordance with Section 17(1) of the Local Governance Act  936 as amended. Hon. Daniel Owusu Asumadu was nominated as the Presiding Member and polled 18 votes representing more than two thirds of members present and voting as per the Act. He was further sworn into office by Her Ladyship Justice Priscilla Dapaah.

The presiding member assured the house that the municipality can look forward to a fair representation of their needs, effective decision making and proper development of the communities during the 9^th Session of the General Assembly.
