The management of the Ga west Municipal Assembly held a staff durbar on Friday 10th May 2024 as part of its plans to review work performance of attitude, processes, and performance efficiency for it's staff for the 2024 action year at its assembly hall.
The Durbar started with an open forum with issues of concerns brought to the attention of management of the GWMA.
Miss Naomi Amoadzah from the Right to Information (RTI) unit of the Assembly educated all staff on the Right to Information Law (RTI ACT 989, 2019).
She enlightened all staff on the Right to Information Act 989 and the procedures for requesting information. Miss Amoadzah emphasized on the importance of the RTI Act in promoting transparency and accountability as well as eliminating corruption.
She reinstated that the Act gives citizens the right to access information held by public and relevant private institutions which can be used to hold the government and private bodies to accountability.
The RTI officer explained different ways in which citizens can request information under the RTI Act, the timelines, exempted information and the fees that may be charged for the reproduction of the information.
The staff of the Municipal Assembly were very receptive to the information provided by the RTI officer and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn more about the RTI Act.
The Ghana National Fire Service, Amasaman command also educated the staff on fire safety and measures to put in place to prevent fire outbreaks in various environment. A practical section was also conducted to educate staff on the usage of fire extinguishers.
In conclusion, the Coordinating Director, Mr. Issac Kwakye urged all staffs and departmental heads to do their appraisals and also exhibit good working attitudes by avoiding lateness to work and always be punctual to work
