The Ga West Municipal Assembly held its 2nd Ordinary Meeting of the 2nd Session of the 9th General Assembly on Friday, 31st October 2025 at the Municipal Assembly Hall.
The meeting began with a welcome address from the Presiding Member, then, the agenda was presented and adopted. The house engaged in the presentation, deliberation, and approval of the 2026 Annual Action Plan, the 2026 Composite Budget, the 2026 Fee-Fixing Resolution, and the 2026 Revenue Improvement Action Plan (RIAP) hence. all documents were unanimously approved.
On other matters, Assembly Members raised several concerns regarding key developmental issues within the municipality. Prominent among them was the non-utilization of the DRIP machines meant to support road maintenance activities, as many roads in the municipality remain in deplorable condition. Members called for immediate action to ensure the machines are put to use to improve road infrastructure.
Issues of flooding were also brought to the fore of the assembly with members lamenting on the increasing number of structures built on waterways. It was further noted that some of the structures earmarked for demolition had not yet been demolished and that has contributed to persistent flooding in most communities in Ga West. The Assembly Members again called on management of the Assembly to take decisive actions to address the situation before the onset of the next rainy season.
Present at the meeting were the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Presiding Member (PM), Deputy Director, Assembly Members, Divisional and District Police Commanders, Commanders from the Immigration and Fire Commands, Municipal Ambulance Officer, Heads of Departments and Units.
In closing, the MCE commended members for their active participation and assured them that the concerns raised would be addressed appropriately. The Ga West Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its dedication to transparent administration, fiscal discipline, and sustainable community development, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for all residents within the municipality.
