The Municipal Roads Department of the Ga West Municipal Assembly is charged with the responsibility of the provision and maintenance of roads and associated Infrastructure for the efficient transportation of people and goods.
Routine maintenance of paved and unpaved roads within the Municipality
Routine Maintenance activities include, Grading of unpaved roads, ditch cleaning, drain cleaning, culvert cleaning, desilting, and pothole patching
Periodic Maintenance of Roads Within the Municipality
Activities under Periodic Maintenance include regravelling, resealing, partial reconstruction and minor rehabilitation.
Traffic Management
These are measures undertaken to ensure the free flow of vehicles and people in the municipality. Activities include Roadline Marking and installation of road signs, parking prohibition, implementation of one-way schemes, installation and management of traffic signals etc.
Road Safety
Providing engineering solutions for accident blackspots. e.g. construction of speed humps, designation of speed-controlled zones and other safety facilities.
Planning and development of the road network
The process that ensures there is adequate provision made for the long-tern transportation needs of the Municipality.
Provision of Roads and related infrastructure e.g. Drains, walkways terminals, etc.
New construction of Roads and related infrastructure.
Technical Advice and backstopping
Engineers in the roads department have a vast expertise on related fields like Construction Supervision, Procurement, Drainage and Stormwater Management, Contract Administration, Urban Management and Land Use Management
